Browsing Books

What was your primary goal with this photograph?

Capturing a woman browsing books from an unusual viewpoint

Can you walk us through your thought process when you were making this image?

I spent hours walking around Calatrava’s incredible Oriente station in Lisbon with my camera, taking various shots of structural and architectural features, concrete, steel, etc. I noticed a book/record market on a floor below me and wanted to capture something a bit different, so I took a few shots from above.

If you had to describe this photograph in three words, what would they be?

Honestly? I’m not sure. Maybe contemplative and vibrant – unsure on the 3rd!

I’d love to get some feedback on this one – I’ve made so many edits to it but it still doesn’t feel quite right. I’m posting 2 different crops of it here, too – would be great to know if there are any preferences between the 2 (or alternative suggestions).
