What was your primary goal with this photograph?
I photographed Johnny Appleseed’s (John Chapman’s) gravesite during Johnny Appleseed Festival 2025. I wanted to show Johnny Appleseed’s gravesite is a reflection of his passion for planting apple trees over the Midwest of the USA.
Can you walk us through your thought process when you were making this image?
Johnny was a firm believer in God and Christian/Judeo values. The Bible is engraved on his tombstone. In the middle of the Apple Wreath, the Star of David exists. Visitors would place apples on Johnny Appleseed’s stony grave.
