I am an architect by trade (semi-retired) and a lifelong photography enthusiast. I believe that architecture and photography share a common language: composition, color, texture, and light. So it is no surprise that many of my colleagues in architecture are also talented photographers. As I move into the next phase of life, I’m considering turning more of my focus toward architectural photography.
My wife and I live in Pittsburgh, PA, but we travel often, which gives me plenty of opportunities to capture images along the way. I love to capture landscapes, architecture, people and special moments that make life meaningful, especially when we travel. Photography has become a kind of visual diary for me, documenting our shared adventures and everyday beauty.
We keep a digital frame near our kitchen table that currently holds 3,528 of my favorite photos. The images that scroll often evoke a memory with our family, or spark a conversation with guests when we gather to share a meal around the table.
Like Debbie, I started with a Pentax K1000, and I’m grateful for how that simple, manual camera taught me to understand light from the ground up. These days, I shoot with a Sony A7IV and a set of Tamron lenses.
I’ve admired Tom’s work for years and am excited about this new platform he’s created. I’m looking forward to learning from others, exchanging ideas, and continuing to grow in my craft.
