What was your primary goal with this photograph?
To capture the desolation caused by the controlled bushfire
Can you walk us through your thought process when you were making this image?
We drove around the corner and saw this majestic giraffe standing overlooking the remains of the bushfire from the day before, which looked barren and soulless. Confined to the vehicle because of dangerous animals that could appear from anywhere at any time, I had a split second to capture the image I had in front of me before the giraffe moved on. Hopefully, this photo captures my vision and tells the story
