Kingfisher shot recreation
Did you see this? Scottish wildlife photographer Alan McFadyen, once famous for
spending six years and capturing over 720,000 photos to get the perfect shot of
a diving kingfisher, has just recreated that same image in only six minutes. Yes—six minutes!
A decade ago, Alan’s dedication became a viral photography tale, highlighting just how challenging that shot was to achieve using the technology of the time.
But with the advancement of modern mirrorless cameras, particularly the Nikon Z9, he managed to get a near-identical version of his iconic shot with a fraction of the effort. It’s a testament to how far camera tech has come—and just how much easier it’s getting to freeze those once-elusive moments in nature.
